Bokkos Advocacy Group (BAG) 2022 PEACE HIKE and Cash Donations to Attacked Communities in BOKKOS LGA, PLATEAU STATE.
The Bokkos advocacy group (BAG), non governmental organisation held its annual end of year hike at wumat rock, Tarangol in bokkos LGA Plateau State, Nigeria on the 27th December, 2022.
Group member’s convened at Tudu in Bokkos town at 7am and there after left for wumat at 10am. On reaching Wumat community, the group was welcomed by the traditional Leader of the community and then the opening remark was given by BAG’s interim convener in person of Mr. Nafor Victor.
The MD, Behafta group, Honourable Jacob Mallo Makwal in his speech applauded the leadership of Bokkos Advocacy Group for this great initiative and also encouraged them to continue in the same spirit of togetherness.
The youth leader of Wumat community also gave his address and cautioned BAG members to be careful while climbing the rock in order not to get injured on the process. Members proceeded to the hills and then entered many historic caves on the hill, games were played on the hill and then members went down the hill.
On reaching down, members were welcomed by the Honourable member, House of Reps in person of Hon Solomon Bulus Maren and he admonished the youths present to take their studies very seriously and to avoid all forms of social vices and to shun evil. He also encouraged the youth to continue advocating for peace and representation of the people of Bokkos local government within and without political spheres, including representation in the National assembly.
He went further to condone with the people of Wumat over recent attacks that occurred in the community about a month ago and that he has written to all the relevant national and international bodies concerned to provide aid and relief materials to the victims.
Afterwards BAG members proceeded with visitation to the attacked communities which are
to condole with them over the recent attacks which led to loss of lives and properties. BAG also presented their financial support after some community dialogue on how to restore peace in their communities with the leadership of each affected communities.
The community leaders expressed appreciation to BAG for their cash donations and urged BAG not relent in doing good to emerge stronger.
The Hike was climaxed with a barbecue where the Chairman of the LGA, Hon Joseph Goluwa appreciated BAG for their initiative and support to the ravaged communities in the Local Government and reiterated that activities like these would boost the tourism potential of the LGA. He also made personal donations to support the activities of BAG.
The chairman of the 2022 BAG peace Hike/health committee, Dr Mbwas Mashor appreciated the LGA Chairman on behalf of BAG and intimated him that BAG will continue to engage relevant stakeholders on burning issues in the Local Government Area in subsequent programs within the next year, 2023.
