As the 2023 elections draw closer, the increased quest for popular participation has led The Plateau Bloggers Association (PLABOMA)—a group of trained bloggers across Plateau state to commence a daily conversation that provides an opportunity to discuss their manifesto and interact with citizens and journalists.
On Wednesday, PLABOMA hosted Hon. Golu Timothy Simon, PhD, a Gubernatorial Aspirant under the umbrella of the PDP to the first in the series of its daily chats.
Golu who is a trained political scientist and a journalist who previously worked as a lawmaker representing Panshin/Kanam/Kanke federal constituency said his focal areas are security, exploration of solid minerals, tourism and agriculture. “With my experience as a political journalist and a lawmaker, becoming governor will enable me to implement very important policies that will develop our society,” Golu said.
He described Plateau state as “one of the richest states in Nigeria”, however, Golu argued that it requires innovation and determined leadership to bring out the state’s potential. The PDP Gubernatorial said he is “governance minded” and his track record as a state and the federal legislator will enable him to achieve this reality for the state.
“Politics should be minimised and governance should take over after elections,” Golu started when lamenting the alleged politicisation of issues in the current administration, “I will be less concerned about politics if I am elected,” he added.
