As part of the Plateau State Government’s effort in combating fake and unverified news in Plateau state, the Plateau State Information And Communication Development Agency had its first engagement with the blogger community in Plateau state. Together with Devrock Global Communications Ltd, had a two-day intensive capacity building training on Strategic and Development Communications was organised and held at Steffans Hotel Jos on the 2nd & 3rd February, 2021.
Contents delivered were how to become a strategic communicator, Social Media Ecology, Communication for Development, Social Responsibility and Agenda Setting, How imperative effective Science & Technology Public Relation is to National Development, Bloggers Space/Traffic/Traction/Direction, Niche Scooping; Minsinformation & Disinformation; Proactive, Responsive & responsible coverage and Bloggersphere & Governance.
PICTDA’s goal is for the participants to place premium on the common good of the society above their personal interests, promote equity & justice and know they owe the society a duty of sanity to moderate and regulate the media space.
Some high government delegation who graced the opening were Hon. Dan Manjang (The Commissioner of Information and Communications), Hon. Dung Gyang Must (The Commissioner of Science and Technology), Dr. Makut Simon Macham (The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Executive Governor of Plateau State) and Mr. Jeptha Jackden (The General Manager Plateau Radio Television Corporation).
