Reimagine Plateau; A Shift from “Brown Agenda” to “ Green Agenda” is a Tearfund Nigeria initiative aimed at promoting and supporting Transition to green Economy in Plateau State.
The major goal of the programme is to see Plateau State transition to Green Economy and have that reflected in environmental sustainability, inclusive economic growth with responsible consumption and production.
During the programme, stakeholders will be engaged in the following;
• Diagnosis: Phase of the Green Growth Planning Process;
• SWOT analysis for Transitioning to Green Growth Path in Plateau State;
• Environmental Scan/Analysis of Plateau state in the context of transition to a Green Growth path(Reflection on societal, political, Economic, Environmental, Cultural domains and impacts on commitment to transition to Green growth path in Plateau state;
• Identification of existing policies, commitments and frameworks supportive of transition to green growth (green economy) in Plateau state.
• Identification of national commitments for transitioning to green growth that have been mainstreamed in government Ministries and agencies in Plateau State;
• Identification of existing systems, structures and culture supportive of transition to green growth (green economy) in Ministries and agencies in Plateau state;
• Identification of green growth projects and initiatives implemented by the government of Plateau state with update on their status;
• Identification of opportunities and enabling conditions for transition to Green growth path in Plateau state across Sectors(Water Resources & Energy, Environment, Tourism, Transport, Housing, Urban Development, Agriculture, Mining etc)(Note systems, structures, strategy, culture, policies, capacity building, Investments required for the various sectors to transition, Capacity building etc) ;
• Barriers to transitioning to Green growth path in Plateau state( Note systems, structures, strategy, culture, policies, capacity building, Investments required for the various sectors to transition, Capacity building etc);
• Identification of approaches to overcoming Barriers to transitioning to Green growth path in Plateau state( Note systems, structures, strategy, culture, policies, capacity building, Investments required for the various sectors to transition, Capacity building etc);
• Identification of Risks associated with transitioning to a Green Growth path and how to overcome them.
The program is scheduled to hold on the 9th –10th June, 2021.
